Essential Tech Accessories for Your Laptop

Laptops are made for light and handy computer use, but that sure doesn’t come for free. Many things have been created to fix that issue, offering you all the capabilities you’re looking for, but which ones are actually of use? Clearly, each one should be judged on its own merits, but there are laptop accessories that you just can’t sanely do without.

External Hard Drives

At a time when computers are prone to viruses, stray magnets and other risks, backing up is crucial. If you have but a few files to secures, a USB drive may be good enough. To store larger data chunks, you can go for an online service like Google Drive or DropBox. If you want all your files, preferences and settings saved, then you should go for an external hard drive. Most people want a basic, portable hard drive, but if you don’t plan on moving yours around, getting a bigger, heavier desktop external will save you some bucks.

Fans

If you’re a computer professional and you notice your laptop burning, you can simply pull the base open and begin cleaning the fan. Otherwise, it’s smart to buy a laptop fan. This may cost you about $15-20, but that will most probably be for life. It’s one of those costs that are important, not simply for convenience’ sake but, more importantly, for safety. Fires that started from burning laptops aren’t that rare these days.

Spare Batteries

The need for spare batteries is debatable. Apple laptops have built-in batteries, so an additional set is largely useless. But you definitely should consider getting one if you depend on hours upon hours of battery-based performance. That will come in handy on extended flights or bus rides. When getting extra batteries, make sure they’re made for your laptop. It will be so frustrating to spend $80 on something that wouldn’t fit.

Mouse

Touchpads can be quite annoying, though you can always get accustomed to them after a while. If you’re a serious gamer, you probably already have a killer of a mouse. If you just like to use a mouse, or your touchpad is low quality or becoming intolerable, just get a mouse at your local store.

Speakers

Don’t you just hate how laptop speakers make this tiny and hardly audible sound? While they have evolved a lot since they first came out, sometimes, they just won’t do the job, especially when you’re trying to watch something. In this scenario, a pair of cheap speakers can be invaluable. There will be lots of cute and frilly options out there, but don’t be tempted. Just get something that works for you, no matter how dull-looking.
